Philippa Kiraly
Seattle scores very high in choral music, particularly religious choral music. Seattle Choral Company's new release, "When the Morning Stars Sang Together", is a continuation of its "The Moon is Silently Singing" put out two years ago.
The earlier recording is a reflective nocturnal journey, the new one provides serene illuminations of the day, with music by composers from Bruckner and Britten to William Hawley and Henryk Górecki. The singing is precise, rich and full of grace, with excellent balance and clear high voices.
