Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell

The classic mythology of Virgil's Aeneid stirred the imagination of the great English composer, Henry Purcell. His short, three-act opera, Dido and Aeneas, tells the tale of unrequited love with tight dramatic structure and a wide spectrum of emotions. First performed in 1689, Dido and Aeneas is considered to be the first great opera in the English language.

Dr. Robert Bode (Director of Choral Activities at Whitman College, in Walla Walla) returns as guest conductor to lead the soloists and chorus of the Seattle Choral Company for an evening of music from the English Baroque.
